Whats with the title?

You may be wondering what the heck is 'Craft A.D.D.' and may even be wondering if you have it. Craft A.D.D. is a term coined by my good friend Julia, who also suffers from this severely debilitating disorder...sorry Ju, it's true. (She's on a mission and won't be reading this, so I can say that.)

{Craft Attention Deficit Disorder} :

"A diagnosis applied to children and adults who consistently display certain characteristic behaviors over a period of time when doing crafts." The most common core features include:

-distractibility (poor sustained attention to tasks)

-impulsivity (impaired impulse control)

-hyperactivity (excessive activity and restlessness)

My symptoms:

1) I have a box of head-band-making supplies and how many headbands have i ever made? Probably five.

(PS Go here for a great tutorial on feather/flower headbands)

2) I have a box full of old wood shelves/posts I bought at the thrift store with hopes of re-finishing. How long ago was that? 2 years. Bought in my refinishing-wood era.

3) Also in my "craft box" are a plethora of bead/string/wire that I bought when on my jewelery-making-kick. When was the last time I wore any of that jewelery or made anything new? Gonna go with 1 year.
Mikell, my roommate to the South, can attest to this one:

4) My whole side our hallway desk area (plus part of Mikell's side) is filled with scrapbook paper/threads/supplies/pens/scissors. When was the last time I scrapbooked? Gonna go with a year on this one too. I really think I need to go to "Scrapbook-Supply-Buying" therapy. I seriously CAN NOT go into Robert's Craft without leaving with at least 10 sheets of paper or some other cute embellishments!

5) On the floor in my bedroom is a half-finished t-shirt quilt...just-a-waitin' for me to finish her up. That quilt was started this last summer during my "sassy-sewer" phase. Every 3-4 weeks it and my sewing machine make their way out onto the kitchen table and will plant themselves there for a good 2 weeks, while I apologize to my roommates every night for the mess...but still don't work on it :)

(No, this quilt isn't mine, but when I finish mine...i'll post a pic)

If you or someone you love also suffer from Craft A.D.D., just know that you are not alone. Follow me on my journey to Craft A.D.D. Freedom!!
